Question: DDR and DDR2 laptop memory modules are both 200pin, can I use DDR2 in my DDR laptop?

Read our answer below:

Unfortunately no you cannot. Inserting a 200pin DDR2 laptop memory module into a DDR memory based laptop may actually damage the latter. There are several aspects that prevent this from working such as different voltage and pin layout. Fortunately, while both DDR and DDR2 laptops memory modules do indeed feature 200pins, the notch is aligned differently on each. Due to this facet you will not be able to insert a DDR module into a DDR2 memory slot and vice versa.
